To be honest, I don't believe in any one or any thing that will make my life better. I believe we all create our own destiny. If I don't do any thing well, it's because I haven't worked hard enough.... The story is pretty nice, but I don't like the last words "Leave the rest to God." Anyway, i like to share it with you all.

Hope you enjoy it!

God's Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to
visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into
complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned
with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic,
glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up,
leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only
the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most
cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously
went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in
society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and
the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we
live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee
God has provided us."

God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee!

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the
best of everything."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to
God.

I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.

It depends on where it came from and who wrote the story. But I like the words saying that "While it is normal for you to want only
the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."

take care!

Thanks for the response, Trang!

I like this the most: "The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."

I truly believe we make certain choices in life and create our own path. Being happy or sad is all up to us. That's why I don't like the part "leave the rest to God", or to be specific, I don't want to leave any part of my life to anyone else -- there is no reason for me to let someone lead my life.

It's meaningful to read this story. I think that the life and the one who carries it are like water and fish. Sea water and fresh water. It's impossible for fresh fish to live in sea water and vice versa. Human beings are diferent from those fish. We try our best to live a better life for each!

I've told Son about this post and also realized that this might offense someone. I truly didn't mean anything but wanted to share a few nice words. I've learned a great deal about religions. And even though my family believes in Buddism, I find myself believe in anything that makes people live kindly toward each other. I don't want to think that there is a destiny for each of us, or some body will have control over our life. If that's the case, we can never get out of it, which is so scary to think of. I like to think that there are options out there, and each of us will generate our own reality.

Hope all is going well with you!

Anh Hoa ơi,

You are so sensitive. Thanks for your story because it's really meaningful. I follow no religions but sometimes I absolutely believe in some mysterious cases. Last night I saw the film "Jesus" on www.youbebo.com. After that my thinking about Gods as well as some religions has been crucially changed on the positive viewpoint that religions aim human beings to a good way of living.

Sometimes when I am in despair, I believe in God and the supernatural power.
Thank you very much for your post. Should you not think the post will take offense to anybody. You should be happy if your post will be paid attention to with truly comments.

My English is not good enough to express all my thinking but I try to use English because I want to practice my English that has not been used for long time.

Give my regard to Sơn nhé!

See u,

HNT

You guys are alright but this shows you all are phylosophers

I dont like feeling sorry for what I've done. Just do what I think it may be the best for my own life, and I am brave enough to be responsible to what I decided to get. Then I don't feel sorry to that even that's terrible. At least I have tried my best

Next time, If I am allowed to choose a cup for my coffee in the same situation, I still choose the nicer cup for me. Having the nicer cup will make me feel happy, relaxed, comfortable and enjoyed, so why not? If there are many cup, I will choose the best I can get. and if there is only a normal cup, I still choose it with the same happiness. I am still happy with my little house, but if I can buy a bigger one and not hurting any others, so why not?

If you choose the nicer cup and think the problems are coming to you, this is really a problem already, then how can you enjoy your life full of doubts and worries? Then This problem come from you, not from the cup

Again, thinking of the fiction that life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups, you will enjoy your jobs, money, posítions, as well as your life

Points taken, Long!

I also don't think that we can separate these things from life. Life does include family, job, dreams, etc. They are all corelated. It's all about choices. I hope that each and any of us will find our way to make our life happy.

Thân,

Anh-Hoa

P.S: i still don't like a big house. too much work taking care of it. we currently live in a very small house. today i am sitting here at home waiting for some gardeners to finish cleaning up my garden, and it is not fun at all. it takes up my whole morning already.
